Obituary

Eleanor n. “ellie” burka, 92, of charleston, passed away on tuesday, november 7, 2017.

She was a lifelong resident of charleston and a member of temple israel.

Ellie worked as a secretary for the west virginia state bar association, she was a housewife and a homemaker for the late mel burka and they raised three daughters.

She also was a volunteer for kanawha hospice and loved gardening.

In her youth, ellie was very involved with the children’s theater.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, nancy martin and penny burka.

She is survived by her daughter, betsy mcgehee of denver, co; sisters, audrey miller of california and roz starer of utica, ny; 3 grandchildren, melissa, yiskah and joshua; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.M. Sunday, november 12, 2017 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston with rabbi james d. Cohn officiating. The burial will be private. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
