Obituary

Mayor tennant, 64 of south charleston, was a very courageous, quiet, and hardworking man.

He fought so hard a terminal cancer that was spreading slowly but surely. In the end it was not the cancer that had the absolute final say, but for mayor, it is in some way a small victory. Mayor had a willingness to do anything for you within his power.  his great big “˜ole heart that seemed to have broken right in two and carried him away above his suffering and “with his boots on”.

Mayor departed this life on april 10, 2017 at charleston area medical center. He was preceded in death by his father, reverend chester tennant.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, pattie tennant; his mother, jean tennant; sons, christopher (ebony) tennant and mr. Robbie evans; brothers, mr. Neil tennant,  stephen (gisele)tennant, and  mr. Tim tennant ; sisters-in-law, barbara (charles) spears and (susan) and eddie sharps,  three grandchildren, kennedy, evelyn and theodore, in addition to several  cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.M., saturday, april 15, 2017 at barlow bonsall funeral home. The family will welcome friends and family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Saying Goodbye To You Has Not Been Easy, But Knowing I Will See You Again Gives Me Hope. You Were Such A Competitor In All That You Did And That Includes Your Battle With Cancer. You Would Say I Am Good When We All Knew You Were Hiding More. We Know You Did Not Want Us To Worry But You Were Always In Our Prayers. I Will Remember Playing Corn Hole At Neil’S As We Were On The Same Team And We Both Wanted To Win. That Is One Thing We Had In Common We Loved To Compete And Win. I Love You Milt And One Day I Will See You Face To Face Again.

To Pattie, Barbara & Charles Spears, Susan & Eddie Sharps, Nieces Ashley, Olivia, And Hollie…Thank You So Much For Adopting My Brother Into Your Family And Walking With Him Through His Journey. I Know It Wasn’T Easy. From The Bottom Of My Heart, I Thank You. Milt Always Spoke Very Highly Of Your Family. After Meeting You On Saturday, Just Confirmed That You All Were Truly As Wonderful As Milt Claimed You To Be. I Am Extremely Grateful For The Brother In Law Stated That Milt Had Accepted Christ On Friday Before He Passed. That Was All I Needed To Hear. Thank You So Much.

Saying Goodbye To Someone We Love Is Heartbreaking. May You Find Comfort In Knowing That The Heartbreak Of Loss Is Noticed By Our Heavenly Father.  Jeremiah 29:11 ” For I Well Know The Thoughts That I Am Thinking Toward You,’ Declares Jehovah, €˜Thoughts Of Peace, And Not Of Calamity, To Give You A Future And A Hope.”  He Promises To Very Soon Bring About This “Hope” By Bringing All Our Dear Loved Ones Back To Life Through A Resurrection And Reuniting Them With Us Forever Again.
Isaiah 26:19 “Your Dead Will Live. Awake And Shout Joyfully, You Residents In The Dust! For Your Dew Is As The Dew Of The Morning, And The Earth Will Let Those Powerless In Death Come To Life.”  This Means That We Can Have The Heartwarming Hope That Someday, In God’S New World, We Will Be Reunited With Loved Ones Who Have Fallen Asleep In Death.
