Obituary

Suzanne “suzie” cottrell peters passed away peacefully at the hubbard hospice house on july 17 in charleston, wv at the age of 75.

Suzie was born sept 21,1941 in st. Albans, wv to bernard and ruth cottrell. She was a member of st. Andrews united methodist church. Suzie graduated sahs in 1959, chamberlain school in boston, mass obtaining a ba in business, marshall university where she received a ba in education, and oxford university in ohio where she earned a ma in special education. Over the years she taught special education classes at central, weimer, glenwood and shoals elementary schools and then taught 1st grade at watts elementary for 10 years before retiring in 2007. She served on the board of the serenity club and was a member of the sassy saints and sinners chapter of the red hat society. Suzie loved attending programs at south charleston public library. She was an avid scrapbooker and card maker.

Suzie is survived by her children; laura peters and friend harold cogar of charleston,wv, mathias peters and wife ,tiffany of charleston, wv; grandchildren, hope peters of tyler mountain, wv, krystal stowers and jeffery allen stowers iii.

She was preceded in death by her parents; bernard jennings cottrell and ruth curry cottrell; and sister jeannine cottrell cogar all of st. Albans.
