You’ve Chosen Cremation – Now What?
Like many people today, the cost associated with a funeral plays a large part in the decision to have your loved one cremated. Barlow Bonsall’s provides cheap cremation services with attentive care. Now that you have been finally forced into the situation in which you must make a decision on how to say farewell to your dearly departed, you are probably wondering exactly what cremation is all about.
What is the process? Can I be present during the cremation? How much time does it take? What do I do with the remains? What are the costs for cremation? These may be among a few of the thoughts that run through your head during this heart-breaking time.
The professional staff at Barlow Bonsall’s Cremation Services is available 24/7 to offer assistance and address any questions and concerns you might have. We will sit down with you in person or discuss these matters over the phone. It can often make it easier just knowing the details of exactly what is going on. Dealing with the tragedy of a loved one’s passing is hard enough without the added stress of struggling with confusion and anxiety over so many other issues.
What is Cremation, Exactly?
When we hear the word “cremation”, what we typically think of is the burning of the deceased until they have become ashes. However, family members sometimes have an easier time dealing with their grief once they have been informed as to what is happening throughout the entire process. Barlow Bonsall’s Cremation Services will keep you informed of every aspect, all the way from simple crematory arrangements to cremation costs.
A small container (a casket is not required, as it would both be expensive and unnecessarily sizeable) is placed in a cremation chamber with temperatures reaching 1,800° F, where the organic matter is completely evaporated and bones have become what we refer to as “cremated remains”. The entire process can take approximately 2 hours. Once all metal is removed from the remains, they are placed in the urn or other container, which is either provided by the family or may be purchased from the funeral services provider.
A common question many people have asked Barlow Bonsall’s Cremation Services is if the remains of a loved one can be mixed with another deceased individual together in the same container. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no chance of that happening, as each container is individually labeled throughout the entire cremation process, and Barlow Bonsall’s Cremation Services can only perform one cremation at a time. However, as a family member, you may watch the actual cremation if you wish. An authorization form to do so will be provided upon request.
Will I Still Be Able to Have a Funeral or Memorial?
You have probably heard the statement, “I want to be cremated because it is much cheaper than having a funeral”. This is very true, as Barlow Bonsall’s offers affordable Cremations Services and much lower than what a traditional funeral service and burial normally are. What many people don’t realize, however, is that you can still have a funeral once cremated. While the burial is no longer necessary, a memorial service is still a commendable way for family and close friends to have a chance to pay their respects and find closure.
Barlow Bonsall’s Cremations Services will provide you with an itemized statement listing cremation costs as well as additional services and provisions you may wish to add. The professional staff at Barlow Bonsall’s Cremation Services in Charleston, WV truly understands that this will be your final goodbye to your dearly departed, and we want to make it as special for you and your family as possible. We will discuss all possibilities regarding services offered. Should you desire a service rendered, we will help you decide on what type, what kind of music you might like to play during the service (if any), whether the service should be religious/spiritual and/or what denomination, if there will be eulogies read and the number of visitors to expect. Although cremation costs may fluctuate with the size of the memorial or service, it is important for the family to know what options are available and to have the freedom to choose what is right for them.
