Obituary
Blanche derrick wells went home to be with the lord on tuesday, february 17, 2015.
Born november 5, 1916, to the late samuel and mattie lee derrick, blanche was best known as
“sue.” she was preceded in death by her parents, samuel and mattie lee derrick and siblings,
ralph derrick, blaine derrick, geraldine studdard, and samuel derrick.
Born and raised in west virginia, sue also lived in colorado, canada, and texas before settling
in naples, florida where she resided from 1961.
Sue was a homemaker, but also worked as a legal secretary and senior clerk for the social
security administration until her retirement.
After retiring, sue became active as a volunteer. She tutored naples park elementary students in
math and english. Her major volunteer work was with north naples hospital where she earned
25,000 hours service award. Sue was also an active member of the naples organ club,
friendship force, and good sam club.
Sue is survived by her only son, edward o. Lewis of charleston, wv and granddaughters, amy
dobbs of charleston, wv, nan wimms of harpenden, england and lea ann collins of
clearwater, fl.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.M. Friday, february 20, 2015 at barlow bonsall funeral with
rev. John hagan officiating. Interment will follow in sunset memorial park, south charleston,
wv.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
