Obituary

Helen haid mychesky, 97, passed away september 26, 2018, at kanawha place senior living.  born to benedict and christina haid in 1921, she moved to charleston where she graduated from charleston catholic high school and charleston business college.  she married mike l. Mychesky in 1948 and they had 59 loving years together.

She was employed by carbide, stone and thomas, and the teachers’ retirement board.  she enjoyed gardening, hosting family dinners, and vacationing with her family.  during retirement, she and her husband enjoyed going to polka festivals around the country.

Surviving are her devoted daughters and their husbands, patty lipscomb of charleston, chris and tim williams of charleston, and debbie and mike shaffer of austin, texas. She loved her five grandchildren: carrie williams erlewine (christopher), craig williams, jason lipscomb, stacy shaffer mehlhaff (grant), and stephen shaffer (whitney).  also, she was able to enjoy four great grandchildren: owen, kate, and jack erlewine and carson shaffer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm ,saturday, october 6, at sacred heart co-cathedral, with father don higgs officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:30 ““ 1:00 prior to the service in the gathering room at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to hospice-care, 1606 kanawha blvd. West, charleston, wv 25387.
