James “Jim” Wright

Date of Death : January 31, 2019

Jim Wright, 86, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at home following a long illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Ruth (Thaxton) Wright; her two sons, Scott Thaxton, Rob Thaxton and wife (Melonie), Jim’s daughter, Sharri Ballard and her son, Bobby (Erin) Ballard; and five great grandchildren.

Jim was an educator in the Kanawha County school system for 54 years.  Jim’s passion for science led him to donate his body to WVU Medical School,

He left his family with many loving memories and he will always be remembered and admired for his character, and his loving caring ways.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Bible Center Church, Building Fund, 100 Bible Center Drive, Charleston, WV 26309.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Genesis Putnam Center and Hospice for their tender loving care given to Jim, also special thanks goes to Ruby.

Mrs. Wright and family I extend my condolences to you. I am a former secretary at Elkview Jr. High and Elkview Middle School. I remember Jim as a quiet and kind person. My prayers are for peace and comfort for your family.

Good bye Mr. Wright. I will never forget class discussions around the moon landing and so many things you taught us about everyday science I still use today. You made my time at Elkview Junior High School the best years of my young education and instilled a love of science that I still enjoy and have passed on to my son. God bless your family.
