Obituary

James ray hartman, 95, of charleston died monday, january 14, 2019 at hubbard hospice house, in charleston.

He was born april 29, 1923, in charleston and was a 1940 graduate of charleston high school. During world war ii he served in the army air corps and graduated from west virginia university. He was a salesman at thomas field & co for fifty years. He was a long-time member of first presbyterian church, charleston and a member of the clay center collectors club. He was a volunteer for meals on wheels for 25 years. Throughout his life he took great interest in architecture, interior design and gardening. He was a trusted and loyal friend to many people and will be greatly missed.

Jim was preceded in death by his with, joanne morgan hartman; both  parents, mr. And mrs. Robert leith hartman and his brothers, robert leith hartman and dr. John mcmaster hartman.

He is survived by his daughters, laura mcmaster hartman and her husband, paul duguid, of berkeley, california, and sarah morgan hartman and her husband, william perlman, of fairfield connecticut; and his grandson michael morgan perlman of los angeles, california.

The memorial service will be at 1 pm, saturday, january 19th, at first presbyterian church, charleston, with doug jenkins officiating. A reception will precede the service in the ruffner room of the church at noon.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm friday at barlow-bonsall funeral home, charleston.
