Obituary

Katherine ann davis, born august 25, 1928 in clay wv, passed away at her home in st. Albans, on saturday, may 4, 2019 at age 90. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, paul r. Davis, her youngest son craig davis, her son-in-law jay kirby, as well as her parents walter and anna pierson and eleven siblings.

Katherine was a member of the kingdom hall of jehovah’s witnesses in dunbar, and many friends from the congregation blessed her with fine visits, that included prayer and lots of laughs, which she enjoyed so much.

Katherine was a retired cook from kanawha county schools, working for many years at anne bailey elementary, before transferring to alban elementary. She always made sure the students got more than enough to eat, especially those she knew may not get a meal at home that evening. But that was mom”¦she had a very giving spirit, helping folks with food, clothing or money, always preferring to remain anonymous, when possible. Mom will especially be remembered for trying to feed everyone who entered her home and spoiling her grandchildren with super donuts, york peppermint patties and chex mix, which she made weekly, so the container was rarely, if ever empty.

During her last days, nothing helped more than the energy and giggles of her great grand babies, lucy, tucker, kenley, quinn and rowan who brought flowers and frogs, and the love and caring of the older grandchildren and great grandchildren, danny, carissa, corey, liz, jacob, chelsea, andrew and jayden, who came daily to check on “mawmaw”.

Katherine is survived by her oldest son, chris davis (anna), her daughters, renee kirby and robin reynolds (will), daughter-in-law, melody davis and sister malinda (nell) pierson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, danny kirby (misty), carissa davis, corey davis (ashlee), jeremy davis, brandon davis (betsy), casey davis (alina), lindsey davis, elizabeth hippchen (derek), jessie reynolds (joanna), brandy burgett (don) and ashley reynolds (scott). As well as 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the kanawha hospice staff for the care provided to katherine and barlow and bonsall funeral home for assisting with arrangements.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on friday, may 10th at the kingdom hall of jehovah’s witnesses in dunbar.
