Obituary

Kenneth d. “kenny” maynard, 55, of south charleston, passed suddenly from this life on thursday, march 21, 2019, at his home.

He  was preceded in death by his mother, carol wheeler; father, ken maynard; and an infant brother, richard.

Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife, kim maynard; sister, kimberly joyce (joe) of letart; nephew, jack joyce of pt. Pleasant; stepfather, paul wheeler of south charleston; his sister-in-law, deborah adam (joel); nieces, sarah, caitlin, hannah and their families, lisa spencer (doug), karen thomas (larry); brothers-in-law, greg rogers (debbie) and eddie rogers; and niece, amber and family; and his many cousins and lifelong friends.

Kenny truly lived life to the fullest. He was the definition of a free spirit and he showed us all how to enjoy every minute of life. He loved his life, his family, and his many friends including his family of co-workers.

kenny was always sure to make you laugh with his seemingly unending amount of funny stories and sayings. He was an avid reader and was always learning about cars, motorcycles and guns. He loved to drive fast and his love for classic cars and sport bikes showed in him. He enjoyed his years of riding with his friends and cousins.

Kenny and kim are animal lovers and they loved to travel, sometimes on the gold wing. He got his van he had been pining for, loved all its features and loved his time he spent in it. He carried cat food for strays, peanuts for squirrels and was always ready to help the underdog he might meet. Kenny was a gentleman who had a wonderful trait about him which he got from his maternal grandfather, john moss. As the most influential man in his life, kenny recounted to kim his many special lessons and memories of his grandfather. He taught him generosity and they were the best fishing buddies.

Kenny was a major music lover; he thought the louder, the better. He was a thoughtful collector of memorabilia of his trips, car races, and concerts. An outdoorsman, sometime hunter, but just loved to be outside. He was a nascar  enthusiast, member of the fop,  moose lodge in nitro, and had a lifetime hunting and fishing license. Kenny retired from ups in south charleston and was a proud member of the teamsters union local 175.

His remembrance service will be held at 11 a.M. Sunday, april 7, at ridenour memorial park in nitro, at the gazebo. All are welcome to attend.
