Obituary

Though our brightest star has winked out of our familiar skies, she remains aglow forever in our hearts and we who cherished her will continue to shine all the brighter for having been warmed in the light of her love.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend Shirley Geneva Ramey took flight with angel wings on January 25, 2021.

She was born on July 11, 1939, the second oldest of 5 daughters of Curtis and Earle Adkins, who have gone on before her as did sister Joyce (John) Brumfield.

Geneva enjoyed helping members of the community in any way that she could, loved her family and friends and her church family at Tony Christian Fellowship, and interacting with people in general, strangers and friends alike. She especially loved Christmas and family gatherings. She adored all her pets, especially her beloved Zona who slept with her every night.

Those of us whose lives she touched will always be grateful for the gift of her presence. Some, but not all, include her children Deanna Shelton, Curt Ramey, and Steve Ramey; her grandsons Jon Shelton, Joe (Hannah) Shelton, Stephen Compton, and Nicholas Ramey; her great grandsons Preston Shelton and Beau Shelton; her sisters Jeanette (Gene) Davis, Faye (Jerry) Farmer, and Dorothy (Charles) Williams; nieces and nephews Glenda Thompson, Angie George, Ricky Barrett, Duane Adkins, Becky Harless, Kathy Combs, Chuckie Williams, Shannon Barrett-Hudnall, and Tommy Williams; and many others including Pastor Donny Wells and Kathy Wells, Lucille Adkins, Fraulein Adkins, and Frances Kidd.
