Obituary

Nancy ruth davis hauser of charleston, wv was clothed with the imperishable and entered into the glory of god in christ jesus on october 10, 2018, the place where she can once again sing out boldly and with great joy.

She was born in columbia, sc on june 4, 1936 to frank lawrence and katherine satterwhite davis. She had one older sister, anne davis bunn (emery l bunn, jr.).

She attended dreher high school in columbia then obtained her rn degree from duke university. After collage she married charles frank hauser and had three children. Nancy had a distinguished career in nursing both in providence, ri and charleston, wv. In charleston, she worked in the operating room at both camc memorial and general divisions. Additionally, she worked with bone and joint surgeons as surgical nurse for dr. Robert ghiz. She enjoyed sewing and other needle work crafts, square dancing, round dancing, clog dancing, and line dancing. Additionally, she enjoyed singing in the choir at first presbyterian in charleston.

After retiring from nursing, she moved with her second husband, howard mcminn to hilton head, sc where she was active in first presbyterian church of hilton head both singing in the choir and helping out in the office during the week. When howard died, she was introduced to her third husband, floyd diephius, by the minister at first presby. She and floyd traveled overseas extensively and she enjoyed talking about her travels many times over the years. After floyd’s death, she moved back to charleston, wv and became an active part of the community at edgewood summit assisting with flowers in the dining room and helping out in the library. Additionally, she joined baptist temple in charleston, wv where she served on the diaconate board and sang in the choir. In 2013, she married robert foster also of edgewood summit.

Nancy is survived by her children, steven charles hauser of omaha, ne, sharon frances hauser (russell williams) of etowah, nc, and eric keith hauser (mariko) of tokyo, japan. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren, lou john hauser and ray patrick hauser of tokyo, japan; as well as numerous step-children, step-grandchildren and bunn family nieces and nephews along with their children and grandchildren.

By her request, her body has been given to marshall university medical school. A memorial service will be held at edgewood summit monday, november 19, 2018 at 10am with pastor jim hewitt officiating. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to duke university school of nursing in her honor would be appreciated.
