Obituary

Samuel r. Thompson, (budgie) departed this life on october 29, 2019. He was born in roanoke, virginia on september 24, 1939. He was the son of the late mr. Samuel r. Thompson, sr. And mrs. Ethel smith thompson-waldron.

He attended london high school, career college in charleston, wv. He was employed at allied chemical plant, charleston, wv, overnite trucking company, and manager of joan wiseberg apartment complex, 1206 virginia street, charleston, wv. He also served in the united states army.

Samuel was the fifth child of seven children and was well versed of many issues of life, and loved by many people and friends.

His favorite sayings were, “can you dig it; let your heart not be troubled; keep on chuckling”.

he is survived by his wife of 45 years, alfreda m. Thompson; two sisters, ms. Mary harris, mrs. Emily reed; a sister-in-law, joyce brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and multiple of friends.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by four siblings.

The family wishes to express their thanks for the many acts of kindness shown during their hours of bereavement. Special thanks goes to thomas memorial hospital, charleston general hospital and the rehabilitation center.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.M. Tuesday, november 5, 2019 at barlow bonsall funeral home, with bishop fred simms officiating. Entombment will follow in grandview memorial park, dunbar, wv . Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
