Obituary

The honorable james carl stucky, 65 passed away sunday, march 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at hubbard hospice house after a long illness.

Judge stucky was a lifelong resident of charleston and member of first presbyterian church. He was a 1971 graduate of george washington high school and a member of the national honor society. He was also active in football, baseball and track. In 1975, he graduated from wvu magna cum laude receiving his b.A. Degree in sociology. Jim went on to receive his j.D. Degree in 1978 from wvu college of law. From 1978 until present, he attended numerous national and state cle seminars on various subject matters.

Jim worked in the county prosecutor’s office between 1979 and 1985 and served as the prosecutor from 1983 to 1985. He left for 10 years to work in private practice before returning in 1995. Former governor cecil underwood appointed stucky as circuit judge in september 1997. He retired last year after serving the county for decades. He also served as the attorney for the town of marmet and wv toll bridge commission. He taught classes at the wv career college, wv state college, wv police academy, wv judicial association and numerous community seminars.

He enjoyed coaching church basketball, aau girls 16u and supported various community non-profit agencies. He was an avid mountaineer fan. He longed for the time with his wife where they could spend hours talking, playing games and watching movies. In the latter years, jim enjoyed travelling, family vacations to the beach and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. The judge appreciated and cared deeply for his longtime staff who he considered part of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, brenda stucky of charleston; children, adoring daughter, erica stucky nicholas (mitch) of charleston, devoted son, william a. Eads (jennifer) of southport, nc, doting daughter, malia eads pack (mark) of nashville, tn, and hardworking son, michael j. Wolfe (sarah) of elkview, wv; sister, carla a. Buschur of st. Albans, and kimberly stucky fisher (joe) of titusville, fl; loving grandchildren, lily grace, nicholas noah a, pack, zach a. Nicholas, gabe w. Nicholas, stephen brodie miller, ben m. Nicholas, brandon a. Miele, taylor j. Wolfe, sam n. Nicholas, trent a. Wolfe, logan a. Pack, brandon a. Pack, and jordin m. Collins; nephew, frank pierson, and nieces, carly and samantha fisher; and his loyal fur babies, shadow and sinderalla.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 11 am ““ 1 pm and 5 ““ 7 p.M. Thursday, march 28, 2019 at the church.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.M. Friday, march 29, 2019 at first presbyterian church, leon sullivan way, charleston, wv

entombment will follow at tyler mountain memory gardens, cross lanes, wv.
