Obituary
Elizabeth “ann” botkin stewart, of charleston passed away tuesday, november 20, 2018 at the hubbard hospice house, charleston.
Ann was born in south hills, charleston on may 2, 1934 to the late arthur and elsie workman botkin.
She attended morris harvey college and later st. Mary’s college, honolulu.
Ann spoke french, italian and japanese, making her a tremendous asset to her childhood sweetheart and husband, william herman stewart, during their career with the united states department of state, when bill was a foreign service officer.
In every country, where their careers lead them, ann was active in community events, charities and business organizations.
She was the president of economic service council publications of maps in english, japanese, korean and chinese.
Ann was a talented hostess.
She was a member of elizabeth memorial united methodist church, charleston.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, william herman stewart; daughter, kathryn ann stewart (mrs. Kathryn coluzzi) of charleston; sister, jane botkin of charleston; sister-in-law, carolyn reily of christiansburg, va; niece, ilene tan and her husband, takyoung of blacksburg, va; and numerous cousins.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.M. Saturday, november 24, 2018 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston with rev. Jim mccune officiating. burial will follow at st. Matthews episcopal church cemetery, charleston. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, to honor ann’s memory, the family suggests donations to: american cancer society, 301 r h l blvd # 6, south charleston, wv 25309.
