Obituary

Harold l cavender, a life-long charleston resident, passed away peacefully may 4th, 2019. He was 91. He was preceded in death by his parents, w. B. And verna cavender; brothers, kenny and harvey cavender; and his first wife, alice m. Cavender.

He is survived by his wife, peggy maddox cavender of charleston; his children, fred cavender (cheryl) of louden, tn and vickie cavender ovington (jeff) of wilmington, nc; his grandchildren, ellen cavender and will cavender (of michigan); and great-grandson, hunter cottongim. He is also survived by stepchildren, mylinda maddox of charleston, wv; molly mcmeans (jerry) and their daughters kelsey and whitney of south charleston, wv; bobby maddox (april) and their children, briana, joshua, and jonathan of lafayette, indiana, and other wonderful and special nieces and nephews.

Harold was born in charleston and grew up on the west side. He joined the navy as a very young man in 1946 and witnessed the bikini atomic bomb testing in the pacific. After the navy, he returned to charleston and had a successful career with hooten equipment co. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many fine hours with his friends on the golf courses throughout west virginia.

He will be remembered with a memorial service 2 p.M. Friday, may 10, 2019 at barlow-bonsall funeral home, charleston with edward gaunch officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Harold Was A West Sider And Was Always Around Our House. He Was Always Full Of Jokes And Laughter. Our Late Son, Matt Wickline Was Employed At Hootens And Became Aquainted With Harold. Many Years Of Memories.
